CamelNot High School Edition

CamelNOT is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud musical comedy about mistaken identity, royal chaos, and the courage to choose love over power.  CamelNot Character Descriptions — 6F, 8M + Ensemble

FREDERICK / PRINCE ALFONSE (Male)
A sweet, optimistic traveling performer who dreams of putting down roots and finding a
place to belong. Frederick is earnest, kind-hearted, and a little naïve—but when he’s
forced to impersonate the arrogant Prince Alfonse, he discovers unexpected confidence
and courage. The actor must play two extremes: a humble dreamer and an egotistical
royal tyrant. Strong comic timing and leading-man vocals required.

ANISETTE (Female)
A spirited princess determined to control her own destiny. Anisette longs for freedom,
adventure, and a life built on love rather than obligation. Smart, passionate, and strongwilled,
she challenges tradition and refuses to be treated as property. Romantic lead with
warmth, humor, and emotional depth.

SERGEI (Male)
The royal advisor and master schemer. Sergei is clever, manipulative, theatrical, and
convinced he deserves the throne. He delights in his own brilliance and is constantly
spinning new plots. A deliciously comic villain role with big personality and strong
character vocals.

DRAGO (Male)
The Captain of the Guard. Loyal, brave, and not the sharpest sword in the armory. Drago
takes his job very seriously and admires the prince, even when the prince clearly doesn’t
deserve it. A physical comedy role with a good heart underneath the muscle.

LEO (Male)
Frederick’s father and lifelong performing partner. A lovable dreamer who’s spent years
traveling the world chasing success. Wise, warm, and a little weary, Leo brings heart and
humor to the story and provides the show’s emotional grounding.

MARIE (Female)
A lady of the court who has seen it all. Practical, witty, and warm, Marie acts as a voice of
reason in the chaos of the palace. She shares a charming and comedic connection with
Leo and adds heart and maturity to the ensemble.

PRINCE DIJON (Male)
A hilariously perfect prince—handsome, wealthy, athletic, and completely full of himself.
Dijon believes he is the ultimate catch and cannot imagine anyone rejecting him. A
flamboyant, comedic showstopper role with strong vocal and physical comedy skills.

GIELGUD (Male)
One of Sergei’s henchmen. Enthusiastic, excitable, and not particularly bright. Forms a
comic duo with Godfried. Great role for physical comedy and character acting.

GODFRIED (Male)
Sergei’s other henchman and partner in crime. Slightly more confident than competent.
Together with Gielgud, provides slapstick humor and chaotic energy.

MARGUERITE (Female)
A glamorous and flirtatious court courtesan. Bold, confident, and playful, she enjoys
palace life and knows how to get what she wants. Featured comedic cameo role.

ANASTASIA (Female)
Another courtesan at court, equally glamorous and dramatic. Often paired with
Marguerite for comedic scenes. A fun featured role with strong personality.

BISHOP (Female)
The formal and ceremonious officiant of the royal wedding. A brief but memorable
comedic cameo role.

SEA CAPTAIN (Male)
A dramatic storyteller who recounts the prince’s supposed death at sea with exaggerated
flair. Broad comedy cameo role.

NOTARY (Female)
The official royal notary responsible for stamping proclamations. Small cameo role that
can be doubled.

ENSEMBLE (Any gender)
Guards, courtiers, nobles, wedding guests, sailors, townspeople, and more. Ensemble
members help create the world of the show and may be assigned featured lines or vocal
moments.
