Also keen to go to the party is his maid Adele and his wife Rosalinda with a former lover. All meet at the party to give The Bat his revenge. This classic operetta by Strauss is extra appealing for amateur theatre by adding many extra opportunities for chorus. In the original version the chorus do not appear on stage until act 2. But Public Opinion forces him to journey down under to save his ungrateful wife, who prefers instead Bacchus God of Wine.It includes the magnificent Can Can and the immortal fly song. Unlike other versions this translation uses the original music. The other well known amateur version by Phil Park alters the original music and introduces a Waltz from another piece. This one offers the opportunity to judge Orpheus as Offenbach intended. Sets: 4 Orchestra: Minimum of 17. Two versions are available, based on the 2 different versions Offenbach himself wrote - the original in 2 acts, and a larger version in 3 acts with more chorus work in the opening scene.
